What an attribute template is
An attribute template is a saved, named bundle of list attributes: a status picklist, a tag vocabulary, and a set of custom fields, packaged together for reuse.
If your team has dialed in the perfect setup for LO recruiting lists — the right pipeline stages, the tags you always need, the fields you always score — a template captures that structure once, so every new list starts there instead of being rebuilt by hand.
💡 Templates carry structure only, never data. Applying a template gives a new list its statuses, tags, and custom fields, but no records and no values. Your data stays where it is.
Creating a template
Save a template from a list whose attribute setup you want to keep. The template gets a name, and captures the list's statuses, tags, and custom fields as they stand.
Each template belongs to an object type: a template saved from a People list applies to People lists, and likewise for Companies.
Using a template on a new list
When you create a list, the Start a new list library includes a My templates section: templates you've saved yourself, plus any shared with you by teammates. Pick one and the new list starts with that template's statuses, tags, and custom fields already in place.
Templates apply to new lists of the same object type — People templates for People lists, Companies templates for Companies lists.
Templates vs. the curated library
The Start a new list library has two sources of templates:
- Curated templates, built by Model Match and organized by category (LO recruiting, branch and team recruiting, and more). These are a great starting point when you're new.
- My templates: yours and your teammates', capturing how your team works.
A solid path: start from a curated template, adapt the list's attributes to your workflow as you use it, then save the refined setup as your own template.
Frequently asked questions
Does applying a template add records to my list?
No. Templates are structure only — statuses, tags, and custom fields. Records are always added separately.
Can I apply a template to an existing list?
Templates are applied when creating a new list, from the Start a new list library.
Can a teammate edit a template I shared with them?
No. Recipients can load and read a shared template; editing and deleting remain with you as the owner, or a workspace admin.
Do People templates work on Companies lists?
No. Templates match their object type. Save one template per type if your setups span both.
If I update my template, do lists already created from it change?
No. A template seeds a list's attributes at creation. After that, the list's attributes are its own — changes to the template don't ripple backward.
