Connecting Model Match to ChatGPT (for OpenAI Users)
Learn how to connect Model Match to ChatGPT
Model Match connects to ChatGPT using a custom MCP connector, so you can bring mortgage and real estate data straight into your ChatGPT conversations.
Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to search for Loan Originators, Branches, Companies and Real Estate Agents, view Loan Officer and Realtor relationships, grab contact information, run volume analysis and more — all in plain language.
💡 Every request ChatGPT makes respects your existing Model Match workspace roles and permissions, so ChatGPT only ever sees the data you can already see in Model Match.

What you'll need before you start
Custom MCP connectors in ChatGPT run through a feature called Developer Mode, which is available on ChatGPT's paid web plans: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education.
🛑 The free ChatGPT plan doesn't support custom connectors. On Business and Enterprise plans, a workspace admin or owner must turn on Developer Mode for the organization first, then members can use it.
You'll also need an active Model Match account. When you connect, you'll sign in with your normal Model Match credentials, and your existing roles and permissions carry over automatically.
The Model Match connector (MCP server) URL
This is the only address you'll need. Copy it now and keep it handy.
https://chatgpt.modelmatch.com/mcp
💡 Heads up: the ChatGPT address is different from the one used for Claude. Be sure to use the URL above when connecting in ChatGPT.
Adding the Model Match connector
- Open ChatGPT and go to Settings → Apps & Connectors.
- Click Create. (If you don't see the option to add a custom connector, open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode first.)
- Set the name to Model Match and paste the URL
https://chatgpt.modelmatch.com/mcp. - Leave the authentication set to OAuth and click Create.
- Click Connect, then sign in to Model Match when the authorization window opens.
💡 If the sign-in window doesn't appear, check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups, then try connecting again.
Using Model Match in a chat
- Start a new chat and type @Model Match to bring in the app.
- Ask it to do something ; for example: "@Model Match find the top loan officers in Austin, TX this year."
🧠 Because Model Match can take action in your workspace, ChatGPT may ask you to confirm certain actions before they run. This is a built-in safety check — approve it to let the request go through.
Confirming the connection works
To make sure everything is set up correctly:
- Start a new chat and type @Model Match.
- Try a simple request like "@Model Match find real estate agents in Charlotte, NC."
If ChatGPT returns Model Match results, you're all set!
What you can ask ChatGPT to do
Once connected, you can talk to ChatGPT in plain language and let it pull from Model Match for you. A few examples to get you started:
- "@Model Match find the top-producing loan officers in Dallas, TX over the last 12 months."
- "@Model Match show me real estate agents near Catawba County, NC and pull their contact info."
- "@Model Match which lenders is this originator sending the most volume to?"
- "@Model Match look up branches for this mortgage company and summarize their recent volume."
🧠 ChatGPT only returns data you already have access to in Model Match. Your roles and permissions are respected on every request.
FAQs
What is a custom connector (MCP)?
A custom connector is a secure link between ChatGPT and an outside tool — in this case, Model Match. It uses an open standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol) that lets AI apps connect to tools and data. You don't need to install anything or write code — you add the Model Match URL once and sign in.
Which ChatGPT plans support this?
Custom connectors require a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise plan. The free plan doesn't support them, and the exact Apps & Connectors options you see will vary slightly depending on your plan.
Is it secure? What can ChatGPT see and do?
ChatGPT connects to Model Match using your own login (via OAuth), and every tool call respects your existing Model Match roles and permissions. That means ChatGPT can only access and act on the same data you can already work with in Model Match. As an extra safeguard, ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions before they run, so you're always in control.
I don't see the option to add a custom connector — what now?
A few things to check:
- Confirm your plan. Custom connectors require a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise).
- Enable Developer mode. In Settings → Apps & Connectors, open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode, then look for the Create option again.
- Team plans. On Business or Enterprise plans, your workspace admin may need to allow custom connectors before you can add one.
Why isn't @Model Match showing up in my chat?
- Finish connecting. Make sure you clicked Connect and completed the Model Match sign-in. If the window closed early, remove and re-add the connector, then sign in again.
- Start a fresh chat and type @Model Match to bring in the app.
- Check your browser pop-ups if the authorization window never opened.
Can I use Model Match with ChatGPT on my phone?
Set up the connector on ChatGPT web first. Once it's linked to your account, it's generally available when you're signed in to the ChatGPT mobile apps as well.
How do I remove Model Match from ChatGPT?
Open Settings → Apps & Connectors, find Model Match in your list, and remove it. On Business and Enterprise plans, an admin can remove it for the whole organization.
